Isit possible to invest in China? Yes, of course, it is! But for direct investments there are some restrictions. It is very difficult to receive a controlling interest in a Chinese corporation. But since the former British settlement Hong Kong belongs to China markets open up step by step by new investors (for Frankfurt Catering or Asia Frankfurt).
Would an investment in China be profitable? You can say yes, because China offers a lot of opportunities to invest. Funds are welcome. But there are also some risks. The Chinese currency Renminbi is such a risk. The exchange rate to the US Dollar or the Euro is a political rate. So it is difficult to say how the change will be.
